Iraq Military Gym To Get Upgrade
After we ran a story about the Washington Army National Guard gym in Iraq that created some unique do-it-yourself fitness equipment, I got a message from somebody at SPRI Products Inc. who said the company plans to send a “care package” to the soldiers. While the SPRI contact I spoke with said he respected the troops’ creativity in putting together a makeshift gym, he thought they might appreciate a selection of ready-made fitness gear. I had a feeling something like this might happen when I originally wrote the story—I’m so glad my hunch was right! A special thanks goes out to SPRI and Sgt. Catlett in Iraq.

Thanks for helping the troops, I was over there for a while and we had to make shift a gym also. Now I own one myself. Thanks again and I wish them a safe tour and safe travel home.

My organization designed and developed the 1st weightstack machine concept
that allows the adjusting of resistance at ANY TIME the user wants, without EVER having
to stop the exercise, or come to resting position, or touch the pin…
I have continually attempted (over more than 10 years) to have a dialogue with major strength manufacturers about collaborations- NONE were ever interested- even after explaining that my
objectives were more about fitness technology for our troops, and not about my own
business pursuits; again, either the major co’s did not understand the concept and
usefulness of on the fly weight change, or did not feel it was cost effective.
so, we took matter into our own hands.
Our US military and law enforcement will soon have strength equipment available, far superior to the tired, old standards of today’s conventional strength companies…
Best wishes
