It seems that adults aren’t the only ones not getting enough exercise. Lack of physical activity has spread to the youth. According to a YMCA national online survey of 1,630 parents, 74 percent of children ages 5-10 get less than an hour of exercise every day. Last week, the Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, pledged to double the country’s popular fitness tax credit for children and also to extend the credit to adults if his Conservative Party government is re-elected. This would allow Canadians to receive tax breaks for gym memberships, among other fitness-related expenses.
